Yurt camping in Spain - if you would like to see your Yurt related site featured here please email camp@campingmobilehomesholidays.co.uk

Lots of people I have talked to believe that Yurts are a modern invention, but they aren't at all. They were certainly used by Attila and his armies in the early 400's AD and most probably before then. Attila's men didn't actually use Yurts to camp in: they lived in them.

What goes around comes around because Yurts have been re-invented for the camping and leisure market, and are  being used widely now throughout England, Scotland, Wales, France and Spain. I have visited quite a few camping sites throughout Europe and without doubt the French are the tops with the Spanish coming a close second - this appraisal didn't take into account the accommodation, after all a Yurt is a Yurt wherever it is, but somehow I sensed a different atmosphere, a sense of professionalism abroad which sadly I have not encountered so often in the UK. Maybe it's something to do with the weather.

We stumbled across a new yurt camping site very recently - The "Hooting Owl" which is located in the idyllic and historic Las Alpujarras in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Spain. Now this site must be in one of the most tranquil areas of Spain which is precisely why it is a haven for twitchers and lovers of all wildlife. With the two tier pricing structure this site will suit all pockets and is well worth a look at. Contact Rob & Ratna Matthews on 00 34 958 768 806 (office), 00 34 620 568 240 (mobile) or fill in the online contact form.

Yurt camping in Spain, as with anywhere else for that matter, is at the top of the luxury camping tree so to speak. Damp or cold doesn't strike through because the floor is raised, and the bed(s) are proper beds. Yurts are really nice and warm in colder climates but are cool and refreshing in hot summers, so next time you feel like a camping holiday abroad just pack up the car and try Yurt camping in Spain. You'll love it!
