Yurt camping holidays in Scotland. Yurt camping is at the luxury end of the camping market and well worth a try. Some Eco warrior may try to brainwash you into believing that by taking an eco-friendly yurt camping holiday you are reducing your carbon footprint. What about the smoky old fires you guys have then?? Where we stayed in June we were nearly choked by a decidedly unwashed family who had a smoky fire going night and day - then they took off home in a brand new 4x4 (petrol) gas guzzler!
A brief history of the Yurt is on our main Yurt Camping page and so does not need to be repeated here save to explain that a Yurt is a quite large circular structure made from poles which lean inwards towards the centre, and which meet a wooden circle at the top onto which they are tied to provide strength. All this is covered by felt to keep it nice and warm.
Yurt camping is relatively new but there are now sites all over Scotland and we are showing one of them below.
| Highland Yurts - Abergeldie estate, Scotland, Yurt camping. Here on Abergeldie estate we have a Mongolian style yurt set in a secluded four-acre field on a small holding with sheep, chickens, geese and two friendly dogs. We are in an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' with panoramic views over looking Deeside. Just ten minutes by car to Ballater and two minutes from Balmoral grounds and gardens. Experience the nomadic life style, living close to nature but with some luxury; toilet, outdoor kitchen equipped with pots, pans and cups that you are welcome to use. Yurt sleeps up to six people. No dogs please. | If you would like your Yurt camping site to feature on this page please mail camp@campingmobilehomesholidays.co.uk
