Tipi camping holidays and breaks in Scotland. If you have a Tipi camping website based in Scotland and would like to see it featured here please email camp@campingmobilehomesholidays.co.uk
Many's the time we have been camping in Scotland when we were younger, though not in a Tipi I'm afraid. In those days Tipis were strictly for Red Indians - maybe they still live in them on the Reservations, I don't know, though I'm sure that some wise *ss will mail in and inform me as they always do when I make statements like that. Not that I mind of course, provided the mails are polite and informative.
Tipi camping is on a par with Yurt camping I believe, and somewhat more upmarket than ordinary tent camping supposedly. Tipis are larger than your bog standard tent, probably the sane size as a Yurt, that is between 10 and 30 ft, in which you could house your complete family and most of your in laws if you were daft enough to take them on a camping holiday.
If you're interested they can be dissembled in roughly 30 minutes and erected in a couple of hours (I have to add things like this in to fill out the page you see)
Methinks that Tipis will catch on fairly fast in the near future, and with good reason, because they are typically cheaper to purchase than Yurts.
All we have to offer you in terms of Tipi camping websites at present is the one mentioned below which I found whilst digging around in Yahoo. Google doesn't seem to have much listed at the moment in this field.
| Cool Camping Scotland: It's official; camping is cool - a generation raised on summer festivals and gap year breaks has rediscovered the great outdoors as a tonic to high-density urban life. Cool camping features a hand-picked selection of campsite and camping experiences each offering something special, be it a pristine coastline, a tranquil lochside, a chance to camp out in a tipi, a traditional böd, or an Iron Age roundhouse - “a breath of freah air for the canvas-inclined”. |
