Normandy is well served by various ports, Le Havre, Caen (Ouistreham is the port), Cherbourg and St Malo, and if you are coming from Calais then just turn right as you leave the boat and you should be in Normandy in a couple of hours at most.

Normandy is a pretty busy place for holidays, and rightly so too because you can not only savour the full flavour of French food and lifestyle but also take in the history of the region if you have time. The link tells the story of Normandy starting with the Roman conquest, and if you are really a modern history buff then you can go on a tour of the D-Day Beaches and battlefields of Normandy where so many soldiers on both sides perished, so when we think of holidays we must not forget that people come to Normandy especially for the history of the region, often staying in mobile homes when they do so. Whilst we are on the subject of history we absolutely must not forget the Bayeux Tapestry which is really an embroidery and which tells of the Norman invasion of England. The Bayeux Tapestry is on show in the city of Bayeux (did you think otherwise?)

Normandy shouldn't be just one of those places you pass through to get to somewhere else; it is well worth a holiday in it's own right and many holidaymakers including my family have spent several breaks in the area, each time stopping in one of the many inexpensive mobile homes to be rented for short breaks or longer holidays.
