Camping Normandy. If you have a website relating to camping and mobile home accommodation in Normandy and you would like to see it featured here then please email camp@campingmobilehomesholidays.co.uk

For most visitors to France Normandy in the North is just somewhere to drive through on the way to somewhere else, and really this is unfair because Normandy has much to offer it's visitors. OK, it may not have the amount of sunshine that is such a feature of Charent, the Vendee, or the South of France but it does have lots and lots to see, lots of history and masses of accommodation for camping and mobile home holidays. Normandy is easy to get to from the UK via ferries from Cherbourg, Le Havre, Caen, St Malo and it isn't too far from Calais either.

If you are visiting Normandy for a short break or a 2 week camping holiday you really need to see the Bayeux Tapestry which is really a massive embroidery depicting the Norman invasion of England by William the Conqueror. If you are ointerested in WW2 history and would like to spend some time reflecting on the horrors of the Normandy beach battles there are special tours for you to choose from here

Camping in Normandy has advantages if you are taking young children on your self drive holiday in that is not to far for them to travel and neither is it normally as hot as the Vendee and areas below that on the Western coast. The old adadge of keeping the kids happy and you will all have a good holiday springs to mind here. We have written a good camping guide which could be useful to you and also a page which gives some practical tips for holiday savings, always welcome in these days of making the most of our hard earned money.

France is rapidly catching up with us here in the UK with Yurt camping, and Normandy is no exception as there are several companies who deal in Yurt and Tipi camping there now in addition to the normal tent camping holidays and those in mobile homes which are still the most popular by far.

Visitors to Normandy may benefit from having a look at a local map of the area before packing up the car and zooming off into the sunset. For drivers the area is delightful and the roads are exceptionally good as they are in the rest of France.

Please take a look at our sister site which has a section about camping in Normandy
