Mobile home holidays in St Jean de Monts & St Jean Plage, Vendee

St Jean de Monts and St Jean Plage are virtually joined at the hip and it is difficult to know where the one ends and the other begins, so we deal with them as one town really.

This is one of the larger camping and mobiloe home resorts in the Vendee, and in our opinion probably the best, though that depends entirely on what you want from a holiday. Many of the brochures you read about St Jean d M describe the town as "bustling" in high season. That is their way of saying it it busy, and they are correct in saying that.

That apart, there is ample room for holidaymakers here, and as a family we have stayed in mobile homes in various campsites on the outskirts and cannot fault any of them, and you may well find that even if your campsite is several KMs from the town centre you will rarely be more that 100 metres from the beach.

The town of St Jean de Monts is a delight, with the promenade, some restaurants and shops at sea level, and two further parts of the town well, well below sea level. Don't let that put you off at all because the sea has never encroached past the promenade yet!

The promenade is opposite the beach of course and it has a massive amount of car parking space within it, though at weekends and in high season you need to get there early to find a space.

The main beach at St Jean is beautiful flat golden sand and it is safe for all classes of swimmer from toddlers to experts.

In town there is a market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings until just after noon at the bottom of the town in the main car park - they start early here! There is also a covered food hall in which you will find all manner if things you didn't know existed! You are unlikely to go hungry here so why not experiment with something different to eat for a change?

We mentioned that there are 3 levels to the town and the middle one is made up with "local" shops and a car park whilst the bottom level hosts 2 large car parks, the markets, shops, a supermarket and the English/Irish pub where you can get proper beer and excellent food.

A mobile home holiday here in St Jean de Monts will be something for you to remember very fondly until it draws you back again the following year.
