Mobile home parks

The quality of mobile homes gets better year on year because every company out there who is providing mobile home holidays has severe competition with the parks down the road. It is not often these days that you will be expected to sleep in a 10 year old mobile for a week or two weeks of your holidays.

Those days are gone, or at least they were gone before this last recession, as some operators just can't afford to replace old stock as fast as they once did, but having said that, they only keep the ones in good condition.

If you haven't been on a mobile home holiday before then you are in for a treat because they are universally great and have a wonderful atmosphere. We normally stay in a mobile home park in the Vendee départment of western France where you meet fellow Brits, Irish, Scots, Belgiums etc etc, as well as French families on their holidays, and everyone mixes in together.

And unless you are a recluse there is no getting away from the fact that your near "neighbours" in a mobile home park can be great fun when you get to know them a little, and if you have children it is they who normally break the ice by playing together. That can lead to a social situation where you keep in touch well after the holidays are over.

All in all mobile home parks provide excellent value for money self catering holidays in a friendly environment and comfortable conditions -  better and more luxurious by far than tent camping, and we feel that once you have experienced one mobile home holiday you will be hooked for life
