Quiberon is a peninsular about 15 KMs long which runs south from the mainland near to Carnac and out into the Atlantic Ocean, and which forms what is now known as the Baie de Quiberon. Scenery around here is quite dramatic with huge rocks on the beaches and it generally reminds you of Cornwall to which it is similar in many ways.
The upmarket town of Quiberon is at the far end of the peninsular, as are most of the camping and mobile home holiday campsites. The town, like many French seaside towns, has upper and lower parts with shops in both and also in between.
At the bottom of Quiberon town are some shops and a perfectly wonderful beach of golden sand, and in the summertime you will see artists making the most fantastic images out of just sand and water. Truly they are superb as we can vouch having been there several times over the years.
The campsites are all good here but there is one flaw and that is the constant noise from the private aerodrome near to where the campsites are located. We feel that this is a real shame, even though it doesn’t seem to bother many people at all (it must be me!), but we do feel that tour operators should mention, what is to me at any rate, quite a noise nuisance.
Camping and mobile home holidays on Quiberon are especially popular with the French themselves (the noise doesn’t bother them) and it also attracts Irish and British holidaymakers as well.
