Camping, Mobile homes & mobile home holidays in Dol-de-Bretagne, Brittany
Camping and mobile home holidays in Dol-de-Bretagne have become more and more popular year on year, and with good reason too.
Dol is classed as a city would you believe? Probably this is due to the fact that it has a cathedral which was built above the marshes looking over the Baie de Mont St-Michel.
It is a wonderful little place, full of history including exceptionally old medieval houses along its high street, but the outstanding building in the town is the huge, defensive 13th-century cathedral.
This is now an area for history buffs as well as families seeking a quiet location for a peaceful vacation not too far from a ferry port, so they don't have far to travel after alighting the ferry.
Whilst you are in the area a visit to le Mont-St-Michel is really a must. Yes, it is a tad expensive to go in with your car but as the most visited site in the whole of France it is certainly worth the outlay.
Nearby Dinan, a splendid medieval town set in a captivating location on a hillside overlooking the River Rance is another "must see" for anyone camping in the region. The town has street after street of perfectly preserved timber buildings and has somehow retained the massive walls which surround it, most of which is intact.
Dol de Bretagne is well served by ferry ports with St Malo, another historic walled city just a few KMs away, or you may consider sailing to Roscoff in western Brittany which is considerably further than St Malo but from where there is a fast dual carrigeway with only one road number change which would take you straight to the door in Dol.
Other than those two ferry ports you have Cherbourg which is at the top of the Cherbourg peninsular, but only a couple of hours away from Dol at the most. Then there is Caen which is a little further away but still within easy driving distance.
We are certain you will enjoy a restful camping or mobile home holiday in Dol.
