Yurt camping holidays in the Lake District. If you have a Yurt camping business website in the Lake District and you would like to see it featured here then please mail camp@campingmobilehomesholidays.co.uk

Oddly enough, and for no good reason, we haven't spend much time at all in The Lake District though I remember that what we saw was spectacular when the fog had lifted (it was Autumn after all). Having said all that, our son and daughter in law visit the lakes on a regular basis because they like to go camping there. They have all their own kit of course, but one time they zoomed up there after work on a  Friday tea time from where they live in Sheffield they were quite taken aback to find that a good half of  the site they often stay at was taken up by Yurts. It turned out that the owners had done a canny deal with a company which makes Yurts and they had rented half of the pitches to them - regular income and no work, can't fault it!

The kids (they are 37) were really chuffed to be shown round a Yurt and were impressed by the raised floor, the bed, carpets and even a wood burning stove. For some weeks after they got back we were bored rigid by their talk of buying a Yurt and what they would do with it, but the magic wore off I think when they came down to earth and discovered that getting one into a Ford Fiesta would be a tad difficult.

There are quite a few Yurt camping sites dotted around the Lake District, and anyone with a sizeable flat plot of land seems to be buying a couple to hire out when the better weather comes. Indeed, I can forsee that councils in tourist areas will be seriously considering making the owners apply for planning permission!
