Camping and mobile home holidays in La Rochelle, Charente Maritime: If your website relates to camping in La Rochelle and you would like to see it featured here then please email camp@campingmobilehomesholidays.co.uk

The area around La Rochelle just lends itself to camping and mobile home holidays, lazing around in general though whilst you're there you really must have a look round the city. The city itself must surely be one of the most attractive in the whole of France - it is called a seaside town but I would have thought it was a city. There is a fortified harbour which may well have been built centuries ago to keep the Brits out!  If you are driving to La Rochelle from the north then it is an easy peasy ride straight down the dual carriageways from Rennes and Nantes and from there on the Autoroute which will be your only turn off until you reach your camping site area near to La Rochelle.

The first time we went to La Rochelle was many years ago and we made the mistake of driving right into town, fully expecting to be able to park somewhere. Believe me when I say that parking in La Rochelle isn't an option so use the Park and Ride facility which is about every 15 mins and costs less to park for a whole day than parking in the UK does for a couple of hours.

There are some glorious beaches in the area, and more again on the Ile de Re, one of the most expensive property areas in France, but I guess they won't mind if you sunbathe on their sand. As for camping, well camping sites abound in the whole area, though most of the camp sites cater more for mobile home users than for tent camping.

On this occasion we are unable to recommend any particular camping site in the La Rochelle area we suggest that you take a look at Enjoy France where we are sure that you will find something suitable.
