EU driving laws and Hi Viz Jacket

We often, and quite rightly,  have a moan about EU laws and regulations because in the main they are ill conceived, ill thought out and forced on us via unelected Euro trash pen pushers to justify their outrageous salaries. However, for once we really think they've got it right with this new driving law applying to France which was already in force in Spain and some other, more enlightened EU countries.

This latest EU driving law requires travellers to have 1 reflective hi viz jacket or vest in the vehicle per person when driving in France - the law was introduced on July 1st 2008 and was enforceable from 1st October 2008. The driver needs to have his/her vest located somewhere in the vehicle so that it can be put on inside i.e. Before the driver leaves the car.

We have approached no end of manufacturers of high visibility clothing to ask if we could add their company details here and on another of our pages dealing with European driving laws, but none of them wanted to know for some reason. All we can say is that theirs is a recession proof business! However, we have recently been approached by Vispack who are our saving grace in that area. We are most happy to promote their business and thier products on this page and we ask that you have a look at their site by clicking here

Now VISPACK is a relatively new business in this area and it is designed to aid the safety of all road users across the UK as well as to provide a centralised location for the storage inside a vehicle of personal and essential road safety information. When we mention it is designed to help UK drivers that also includes drivers travelling in other EU countries.

We have authority to quote from the Vispack website:

"Referred to as ' The Drivers Hub', VISPACK is: a reflective pack containing five high visibility vests or (hi viz jackets), an information card containing contact numbers for specialist roadside assistance, personal contact details for use in the event of an emergency, life saving personal medical information.

In addition there is a collision report form, should you be so unfortunate, for completion at the scene of an accident, which will help when making an insurance claim.

The conveniently-sized pack has a velcro strap designed to fix behind most vehicle headrests or it can be stored in the glove box, foot well or behind the seat.

The pack also contains a 'VISPACK On Board' window display sticker."

We seriously recommend that all drivers take a good look at the Vispack website and buy the pack for a very minimal amount whether or not they are intending to drive through France or Spain this year, because this will benefit you and your passengers should you be unfortunate enough to break down or have an accident on a busy road.

In conclusion, we recommend that you buy now and pre-empt the this new law which will almost certainly come into force throughout the UK in the near future.
