Motorhome insurance: If you have a website relating to this topic and you would like to see it featured here then please email camp@campingmobilehomesholidays.co.uk
Motorhomes come in all shapes and sizes, all sorts of conditions and ages, but they all have one thing in common and that is that they are expensive. OK, I don't mean those little things which resemble a 1960's ice cream van, and there are still some around, believe me. No, I'm referring to the larger models which are virtually a house on wheels. I would love to own one but unless the lottery is kinder than it has been since it started then there is little to no chance of that happening, but I still live in hope and like most men of a certain age I want to take a year out and truck round Europe in a well appointed motorhome, stopping where the fancy takes and moving on at will.
Owning a motorhome is rather like owning an expensive car, a boat or a house in that with the ownership comes certain responsibilities such as maintenance of the entity inside and out, and a huge responsibility both to yourself and others by insuring the beast to cover all and every eventuality: theft, theft from it, accidents whether it is your fault or not. When you consider the size and value of a motorhome and the possibility that quite a bit of its life is spent in other countries then insurance is relatively cheap when compared against a car of roughly half the value. Probably insurers have the opinion that motorhome drivers by and large are middle aged people who look after their toys and who aren't boy racers.
Just think though, wouldn’t it be great to take off next March and drive to Sweden, Norway, Finland where Spring and Summer are early, take in the sights and the scenery and then move on somewhere else on a whim? There is no rush and you could spend time dawdling around and following the sun round Eastern Europe before popping back to the Eurozone round Germany, France, Spain and Portugal. Let’s face it: when you own a motorhome the world truly is your lobster!
No doubt you will find that a forward looking company which is prepared to quote for motorhome insurance will most probably also provide quotes for coverage of American motorhomes as well. They are likely to also look at static caravans, mobile homes, chalets, log cabins and second homes wherever they may be.
