European camping holiday insurance

It's December 3rd 2008, freezing cold and dark outside, and I am sat here in my office tapping out these pages, my mind wandering to next year's European camping holidays, and even though we stay in mobile homes these days it still counts as camping. European camping is no different to camping here in the UK nowadays,  though I can well remember the days when it used to be, when there were so few proper camp sites here that they were counted on the fingers of one hand. At the same time the camping sites in France and Italy were superb with excellent shower/toilet blocks and shops. It took us a long time to catch up with Europe as far as camping is concerned and even then we don't always have European weather.

One thing that we as a family have always done is to get good comprehensive insurance cover whenever we go away. European hospitals are generally pretty good but if you don't have insurance when you're ill over there you may well still have to pay for your treatment and claim it back when you return to the UK. Is it worth it? Why not get some decent insurance before you go and save yourself the hassle?
