Camping and mobile homes holidays in the Quimper area of Finistère, Brittany: If you have a camping and mobile homes website which relates to the Quimper area and you would like to see it featured here then please email camp@campingmobilehomesholidays.co.uk
Given that Quimper is in Cornouaille which sounds and spells very much like Cornwall to me, does it surprise anyone that the Cornish and the Bretons get on so well together? It is even rumoured that their local dialects are one and the same, and scientists tell us that Brittany and Cornwall were joined together many, many moons ago so probably that may have a bearing on it.
That apart, Quimper is the capital of Finistère, and is an easy 15K from the glorious beaches near Benodet - we have a page about Benodet too. The area supports masses of camping and mobile homes sites and is a tourist haven just like the rest of Brittany.
Getting there is simple as the port of Roscoff is the nearest, and from there you travel South just down the page, most of which is dual carriageway. Other than that the ferry to St Malo is an excellent choice as you can still get duty frees on it, and it still isn't a bad journey to Quimper.
Possibly smaller site owners can offer mobile home holidays on just one site, and believe me there is plenty to see and do round Quimper and the surrounding area to keep you busy for a couple of weeks, but larger companies may be able to offer you 2 centre holidays where you hire a mobile home for 1 week in Quimper and the second week somewhere else....St Jean de Monts in the Vendee for instance. That's great if you can keep the travelling to a minimum so as not to lose a complete day traveling or be too far from your port on the day you go home.
2 centre holidays are great and they allow you to have 2 entirely different holidays rolled into one, though you may find that some companies will ask for slightly more for two separate weeks in 2 different mobile homes than they would for 2 weeks in just one location. This extra may be to cover extra maintenance and cleaning costs - but query it anyway!
