Languedoc-Roussillon is situated in Southern France and is flanked by the Rhone Alpes, the Provence Alpes and Cote D'Azur, the Midi Pyrenees, the Med sea and finally Spain. If you are going self drive  then maybe the quickest way to get there would be from Calais and straight down the Autoroutes. They charge per kilometre but it's a long journey made more bearable by having plenty of road space (except in August when the Autoroutes are chock full of Brits fleeing to the South).

Self drive holidays aren't as speedy as fly/drive but you can take virtually everything but the kitchen sink and drive in a car you know well. I am nearly 62 now and have driven round Europe more times than enough for various reasons during the last 40 odd years but I have never yet driven a left hand drive car! We always take the Picasso and find that there is so much luggage space in it that we can never fill it.

There are mobile homes galore in the Languedoc-Roussillon area of Southern France. Languedoc also boasts weather to die for and for that reason alone holiday makers flock to the region, possibly to stay in mobile homes or maybe to stay in gites or other forms of holiday lets.

Languedoc is rightfully famous not only for it's magical sunbathing beaches but also for the amount of naturist beaches; naturist in this sense meaning nudist as opposed to wildlife watching! Naturist beaches abound but for us Brits who are unaccustomed to so much sunshine it is advisable to use plenty of suncream on areas which would not normally see the daylight as it could be highly embarrassing to all concerned were you to get your naughty bits burned! Ouch!
