Carnac is a lovely town situated on the Southern Brittany coast, and very close to the Quiberon peninsular. Carnac is tremendously popular with visitors, lots of whom stay in mobile homes sites nearby. It is easy to see why people go there, especially families because there is a lovely safe beach just yards away from the town itself. We went there a few years ago and (like tourists do) we took a ride on the little train which goes round the town and which also takes in the old Standing Stones which are a man made historical feature of the area and ehich have been there several thousand years. There was a commentary in English and we enjoyed the experience immensely. At the time we were staying in Quiberon and mobile home holidays there are detailed on another page. I would have no hesitation in going back to Carnac and for a proper holiday there this time.

I suppose that different people want different things from their holidays; like masses of other people we like to stay in mobile homes and we nearly always go self drive|: self catering goes without question. In short, we like to be self sufficient, eat in our mobile home sometimes and dine out when we please, though that last may soon be a thing of the past if the £ Pound Sterling continues to slide. I didn't like paying 4.50 Euros for a pint of weak lager/beer in our usual English/Irish bar but if the Pound and the Euro have parity (it's not far away either) then that same pint will be £4.50. No thanks!

If you look around you will see that there are lots of companies offering mobile homes holidays in Carnac and the surrounding area. I sometimes think there are more mobile homes than Gites to be honest. Don't blame me if this doen't work but for the 2009 season I would haggle the price down for any holiday package whether it be a mobile home, Gite, Chateau or whatever. Best of luck!
