Mobile home holiday deals - If you have a website which relates to this topic and you would like to see it featured here then please email camp@campingmobilehomesholidays.co.uk

Looking at things logically there should be an abundance of mobile home and camping holiday deals in 2009 and probably into 2010 depending on the economy with plenty of availability now and plenty later in the season too. Recessions and so called credit crunches are no good to anybody but they both mean that deals of all sorts can be made, if you have the money that is. The question is: do you book early to get the best holiday deal or do you leave it until May and take a chance? Personally I am in favour of leaving things until the last minute for the 2009 season, though I know full well that lots of holiday tour operators would like to string me up for that remark because they need to know how many holidays they have sold for the main season by then.

This is a for instance of what is happening to a friend of ours who has 3 or 4 mobile homes which are hired out for holiday accommodation: By Christmas 2007 she had booked all her mobiles for the summer school holidays 2008 and those bookings covered her overheads for the year and gave her a profit. She had also sold some other weeks as well which were the icing on the cake, and as the season went on she picked up more and more just turning up on spec so to speak.

I spoke to her just before Christmas 2008 and asked how her bookings were looking for the main season of 2009 and she replied that she had sold just one high season week week. She knows her business as well as anyone so it isn't for me to tell her what to do but I suspect that before too long she will be offering some deals on mobile home holidays, and so I believe will other larger companies too.

I never cease to be amazed by the amount that some companies get away with charging and I can and will cite this as true: In 2007 we stayed in St Jean de Monts with Matthews Holidays, a small family run company based in the UK and who specialise in mobile home holidays in Brittany and the Vendee. We had already scouted round for the best deal and at the time Matthews were the most favourable. I forget exactly what we paid for the holiday but it was in late June and covered 3 of us in one of their larger mobile homes for 2 weeks with a longer ferry crossing to the normal Dover/Calais as we paid extra to go from Poole to St Malo. Imagine my horror during our holiday when we were chatting to some families nearby on the same site who were tent camping through Canvas Holidays and who were paying £10 less than us for the same 2 weeks!

Sadly those 2 weeks were inclement and it rained quite a lot (it was the year when we had those awful floods in UK) so who do you think got the best holiday deal do you think? We were in a nice cosy mobile home while they were uncomfortable in tents..... Answers in an email please
