Cheap holiday deals
We all need a holiday now and then or we'd go mad. Work, stress, work, stress, children, credit cards, bills etc, etc. We owe it to our families, we owe it ourselves, and indirectly we quite probably owe it to our bank managers to get simply the best cheap holiday deals this Summer of 2009. It isn't just tough on us as individuals this year, it's also extremely tough on tour operators, especially those selling holidays in the Eurozone. With the £ Pound Sterling being within an ace of the same value as the Euro then you need the income and spending power of a professional footballer to take your hols in France, Spain, Italy etc, in fact anywhere where the Euro is the main currency.
OK, that's the popular thinking, and to a great extent it is true, but let's look at things another way for a moment.
Let's take a "for instance" figure of £1,500 to cover the holiday.
And let's say for instance that your spenders will be £1,000
I reckon that from May 2009 onwards there will be a substantial amount of half price holidays, and at the worst they will be 2/3 of the brochure price, so that makes the Hols cost £1,000.
Now we take a look at the currency (in £'s for this instance) and we see that the Euro has crashed 40% in the last 12 months, which makes our £1,000 worth roughly £600.
It's swings and roundabouts isn't it? What you lose on your spending money you gain back and more on the amount you save on the holiday itself, in fact you calculate your holidays and spenders as above then you are on the winning side by about £100.
It is most important to calculate the total cost of your holidays, including spenders, rather than just the holiday cost or your spending money on its own by believing that the £ Pound is in freefall against the Euro or $USD.
So that's one way of getting cheap holiday deals without hardly trying.
I admit that not everyone thinks the same way I do but my belief is that you are going to be lucky to get cheap holiday deals outside the Eurozone this year. You may have already gathered that this site is mainly about providing information about camping, mobile homes and camping holidays in general, but pages like this one cover virtually any sort of holiday.
I guess that everyone with a family has fallen foul of the "2 free child places" scam at some time or another. I know that we did many years ago when our children were small and there were never ever any free places - the last ones "have just been taken, sorry." (Not all tour operators use this scam, merely enough to give the profession a bad name). Well 2009 is the year you can get your own back by haggling those tour operators down to the last penny to make them give you the best cheap holiday deals possible.
