Holidays in UK Caravan Parks
Most, but not all of the UK caravan parks are dotted around the coastlines, and a surprising amount have direct access to a beach, so having that facility is an obvious draw for booking holidays with one of the 7 or 8 major caravan park groups.
These places most certainly do not suit everyone, but by the same token they seem to suit a great many, especially families, who otherwise may struggle to afford a holiday away from home.
Let's be honest here, these places are cheap and cheerful, even if the owners state that they have had a total renovation, but they do provide value for money holidays, and sometimes with lots of extras thrown in too!
Most of the UK caravan parks we have seen give you free daytime and evening entertainment, so if it happens to rain (not unlikely in our climate) then you have somewhere to go and something to do without getting wet. Keep the youngsters happy and you will all enjoy the holiday!
Where UK caravan parks score over other types of holidays is in the evening entertainment, no question about that, and most of the operating companies look upon this aspect as a major seller of their holidays. Trot down to the bar/entertainment area in the early evening and there will be some really good things going on for the youngsters.
Pop the kids to bed later and rejoin the gang for an evening of free entertainment which can be anything from the staff acting daft on stage to a comedian to some really great acts.
All, repeat all decent UK caravan parks have a good pool complex, usually with slides, chutes and flumes. These things are always free but other things such as water walkers, turbo jets for kids etc are charged by the session.
Many parks have a 9 hole golf course and possibly a fishing lake whilst others offer landscaped surroundings and plenty of walks/cycle tracks etc, but they are all near to somewhere of interest in case you don't want to spend all your time inside the park.
So, would you visit a UK caravan park for a week or two weeks holiday? Yes and no. YES because they are great value for money, great fun for families of all ages, but a resounding NO if you like a peaceful holiday, because that, I am afraid, is not what you will be buying into.
These places invented the Hi de Hi spirit remember, and if you like that sort of atmosphere then you will love a UK caravan park holiday. If not, stay at home and save the money because you will only be miserable!
