Yurt camping in Yorkshire - if you have a yurt camping site related to Yorkshire and you would like to see it featured here please email camp@campingmobilehomesholidays.co.uk

As a family we love Yorkshire. Our son and daughter in law live in South Yorkshire and they are avid campers, but with a tent not a Yurt - you don't get many Yurts into the back of a Ford Fiesta you know! So I asked them one weekend this summer (2008) to take off and try a Yurt for a couple of days so that I could write about the experience and see if it differed from our own. Unfortunately I can't tell you where they stayed (to save blushes all round), but they did eventually find a place advertised which was part of a farm, the farmers taking to the leisure industry to supplement their earnings, and good on em too I say! It's fair to say that Yurt camping in Yorkshire hasn't taken off in a big way thus far, or it may be that the site owners haven't got their advertising properly sorted out yet, but the kids struggled to find even that site.

It was enjoyable, they said, but a shame about the cow poo. Oh dear! Really that shouldn't happen, but we won't dwell on it further. They thought the Yurt was superb, never having seen one or slept in one before, and will most certainly return in the Summer of 2009.

Sara and Darren have three beautiful cosy and romantic Yurts situated on their farm just a few minutes drive from the centre of York. With uncanny perception they have called it York Yurts and each Yurt is individually furnished to a very high standard  and all have wood burning stoves so they can be used the whole year round. Each also has its own fully equipped cooking tent and fire pit/barbecue for those wanting to be the chef, or alternatively, just 'arrive' bring your loved one, a good book, a couple of bottles of wine and they will do the rest. They can provide breakfast in bed, lazy lunches and candlelit dinners for those who want the ultimate relaxing experience.
Editor's note: This sounds amazing and must rank as Glamping at it's best! The last time I had brekky in bed was...........Hmm... many moons ago.
