Budget camping holidays in the UK, France or wherever
As we have explained on other pages, camping or camping holidays doesn't necessarily mean staying in a tent. Static caravans and mobile homes are also referred to and encompassed by the term "camping", and they all come under the heading of budget holidays if taken out of the high season.
I've always wondered where some people get their money from for expensive holidays, particularly when you know those people and their circumstances quite well. Perhaps they have an arrangement with their bank. The thing is though, you needn't spend a great deal on holidays in order to enjoy them, we never do and we challenge anyone to say they have had a better 2 weeks, unless they go to the Caribbean etc.
We aren't at all mean but the ampount we can shave off the cost of a holiday by having budget holidays can be either saved or put towards something else. Tent camping holidays tend to be the cheapest for those on a budget, and my guess is that there will be quite a few wanting to save their money in 210 and 2011 and that campsites will be busy busy - if the prices are right!. Tent camping is fun - provided it isn't pouring down with rain that is. Is is also about as cheap a holiday as you can get, especially if you load up the car with your equipment and just take off somewhere - ar a guess you would be paying up to £15 per night
Tent camping and budget holidays takes on another dimension when you go into Europe and see what some of the larger companies offer in terms of tents - all with fridge freezers and stoves, comfortable off the floor beds and situated near to washing and toilet blocks. Now really and truly these shouldn't be too expensive, and indeed most are not, but in the summer of 2007 we stayed at a superb site in St Jean de Monts in the Vendee.
The company we stayed with was Matthews Holidays who have mobile homes on site in Brittany, the Vendee and South West France. It was really great, and what's more, we paid just about the same to stay for 2 weeks in a comfy mobile home with all cons as some families did to stay in tents on the same site with another company. As it rained nearly every day I think we got the better deal. Now that's what I call a budget camping holiday!
